Appointments At The Fix Physiotherapy

At The Fix Physiotherapy, every new client begins their journey with an initial consultation lasting 60 minutes. We believe that providing effective, individualised care requires time — time to listen, understand, and assess the full picture of your health. This extended first session allows us to get to know you, your injury, and your lifestyle. As a result, we can identify not just the symptoms, but the underlying causes contributing to your condition. The initial physiotherapy appointment is crucial for setting the foundation for your treatment plan.

What To Expect at Your Initial Appointment

During your initial appointment, expect a thorough discussion about your current concerns, your medical history, and your day-to-day activities. Some questions may not appear directly related to your injury. However, they help us determine whether other aspects of your health may be influencing your recovery. Our goal is to ensure your care is comprehensive and, when appropriate, coordinated with other health professionals. While our assessments are detailed, you remain in complete control. If you prefer to shorten discussions or skip certain areas, simply let us know about any specific preferences regarding the physiotherapy appointment.

Whenever possible, we aim to provide you with practical strategies to begin easing your symptoms from your very first session. However, for more complex presentations, it may take two to three sessions to develop a complete management plan. If our assessment indicates that hands-on treatment (such as dry needling or acupuncture) may be beneficial, we typically introduce these techniques in a subsequent appointment. This approach ensures that the first physiotherapy appointment focuses on understanding the root cause. It also develops strategies for lasting improvement.

At the conclusion of your appointment, we will arrange any recommended follow-up sessions and process your payment. You will make full payment at the end of your session via Square (card, phone, or watch). Additionally, we will email your receipt immediately so you can claim any private health or Medicare rebates.

Claiming

We currently do not accept compensable clients (including Workers Compensation, MAIB, or Veterans Affairs), unless you are self-managed and able to pay upfront before seeking reimbursement. Clients under a Medicare Chronic Disease Management Plan (formerly known as Enhanced Primary Care plan) are welcome. However, you will need to make full payment at the time of your appointment, and you can then claim your rebate directly through Medicare. So, ensure to check if your Medicare coverage is applicable before your physiotherapy appointment.

We accept all private health funds, and you can process your own claims directly with your provider.
