LIZ BUTLER

Senior Physiotherapist

Hobartians out there may recognise the name – Liz has been working in private physiotherapy practices in Hobart for more years than she would rather say!

Liz graduated as a physiotherapist in 1982 in Western Australia (WA), and began her career at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) and Douglas Parker Rehabilitation Centre. She then had a stint working and travelling overseas, before returning to Australia to work in Children’s Hospitals in WA and South Australia. Eventually the pull from Tassie was too strong, and she returned with a young family to Hobart to work in various private practices. The last of these was Northside Physiotherapy, Moonah, where she worked for… a number of years!

Liz’s direction in physiotherapy has been strongly influenced by her own personal experiences of injury and recovery. One of these early experiences led her to the work of Robin McKenzie, whose approach is extremely practical and useful in everyday life. Through these McKenzie courses Liz met Craig Phillips, who went on to apply the McKenzie movement direction approach to Clinical Pilates and founded DMA Clinical Pilates. Liz loves this combination approach. She then went on to study needling, completing courses in dry needling and traditional acupuncture.

In Liz’s 35+ years of professional work there have been many other courses, teaching a whole range of techniques and processes. This diverse experience really gives Liz the ability to help match individual clients with the best possible treatment plans.

  • All other joints problems, for example shoulders, knee, hip, and ankle

In her spare time, Liz loves to garden (although she is very sick of ALL the weeding), bushwalk, paddle her surf ski, camp, orienteer, knit, sew, and catch up with friends and family. Not to mention looking after her granddaughter.
